1,000 more jobs to be cut at EMI

EMI'S owner, Guy Hands, is planning to axe up to 1,000 more jobs at the music company.

Mr Hands, who runs buyout firm Terra Firma, told senior EMI directors last week that the company's headcount at its recorded music division will need to be reduced to around 2,000 people from 4,500, according to sources.

QTRAX Locks down all Big Four Music Publishers

Qtrax, the "world's first free, legal P2P service," has signed a deal with music publisher Warner/Chappell, which had been the last of the big four music publishers to hold out on signing a deal. EMI Publishing and Sony/ATV signed with Qtrax in early March and Universal signed earlier this month, meaning that as of today Qtrax has deals with every major music publisher in the world.
