SCION EVENTS PARTNERS WITH RADIO ONE STATIONS IN DALLAS AND HOUSTON FOR THEIR KEYS 2 THA CITY EMCEE AND PRODUCER BATTLE
Radio One Inc. – KBFB 97.9 The Beat in Dallas and KBXX 97.9 The Boxx in Houston are partnering up with Scion Events for their Keys 2 Tha City Emcee and Producer Battle. This event was designed to promote and expose independent Hip Hop artists and producers by giving them a once and a lifetime opportunity to shine with major market radio stations, at a big event with a major brand like Scion to compete for some major money, a $2,500 grand prize per category.
The rise of the Scion Nation counter-culture can be heard from coast to coast. Toyota's marketing strategy makes it clearer than ever that underground urban culture is a sought-after commodity. Today, the Toyota Scion is selling in record numbers and has been making its presence known in the underground Hip Hop scene. Scion's secret is that they don't use fake gimmicks; they stick with the real deal. "Scion doesn't attach itself to big stars," says Josh Levine, president of Rebel Organization and a lead sculptor of Scion's marketing plan. "Instead, it captures the local scenes, because that's where urban culture really takes place."Some underground artists say that going corporate means selling out, while others say companies such as Scion could now be contributors to the culture." Scion also produces a monthly magazine that features some of the hottest underground Hip Hop heads from the the West Coast, down South, to London. Half of the magazine focuses on urban trends in fashion, art, digital media, etc. The other half is nothing but Scion ads. Scion has made their brand a lifestyle with growing car clubs and members all across the nation, who are brought together by their common passion their Scions. The various chapters meet at least once a month (and usually more) to simply hang out, chat, eat, install parts, etc. They also participate in local, regional and national car shows. When: June 7th, 2008, doors open at 5:30pm, auditions start at 7:00pm.

What: 1st Place $500 prize. 1st & 2nd place move to Houston's Main Event.
Additional info: The event will be hosted by Radio Personalities Ebony & D'Lyte from 97.9 The Beat who are also Core DJs. * The Dallas show will just be an Emcee battle and it is a freestyle battle (not a freestyle contest- contestants will have to go at one another).
* There will be no cursing, no touching opponents, no written verses.
* We will run the battle NCAA tournament bracket style.
* We are going to take the first 50 contestants that sign up.
* Crowd participation will determine the winner of each round- in the event there is a tie...we will have judges determine who the winner is.
* For the first and second rounds- Each contestant will rap twice for 30 seconds.
* For the quarterfinals and semifinals -Each contestant will rap twice for 45 seconds.
* For the finals- Each contestant will rap twice for a minute.
* The first and second place winners will automatically be entered in the main battle in Houston.
* The first place winner in Dallas will receive $500.00 dollars (via check)

* At Metropolis we will take the first 100 emcees and first 100 producers who come in.
* There will be two panels of judges- one for the emcees and one for the producers.
* One panel will listen to each emcee rap for 45 seconds, the other panel will listen to each producers beat (no longer than 1 minute).
* The panelist will then rate the top 10 producers and the top 30 emcees.
* We will have each contestants information and contact them accordingly should they be chosen as a top finalist.
