Uplifting Audiences and Igniting the Flame of Tolerance- Calumet Amazes with Thrilling New Pop Single “Special Thing”

An exciting and striking single- “Special Thing” is Calumet’s anthem of tolerance and equality, driving audiences towards recognizing the bare humanity within

Phoenix, Arizona — August 24th, 2023 – With their latest single “Special Thing,” released on August 5th, the iconic multi-racial, multi-gender, and multi-generational band Calumet aims to infuse positivity and unity into the airwaves.

Drawing inspiration from legendary groups like Sly & the Family Stone and Earth, Wind & Fire, Calumet’s “Special Thing” transcends genres, ushering in a soul-stirring blend of pop, funk, and timeless musicality.

With a mission to bridge the gap between individuals and promote a spirit of recognizing the shared humanity, the band’s single is a sonic manifestation of hope, echoing the mantra that life is too short for hate and division.

Crafted by Calumet guitarist Jason Mitchell, “Special Thing” encapsulates a profound realization inspired by a chance encounter.

After meeting Billy Abril, the director of a Haitian relief charity organization, Jason was struck by the stark contrast between those who selflessly alleviate the suffering of others and the prevalence of trivial disputes in everyday life. This poignant insight became the driving force behind “Special Thing,” a musical call to arms for embracing the beauty of life and the consciousness that accompanies it.

An ensemble of remarkable talent brings “Special Thing” to life. Eric Mobley’s charismatic lead vocal and keyboard prowess, Jason Mitchell’s intricate guitar work, Julian Mitchell’s rhythmic drumming, Kendall Davis’ compelling vocals, Larry Brodie and David Moore’s saxophone magic, and Chris Starks’ resonant bass coalesce into an entrancing symphony of sound.

The band masterfully weaves conscious lyricism into infectious melodies, leading listeners on a journey of introspection and connection. Through the intoxicating rhythms and harmonies of “Special Thing,” Calumet challenges rigid societal norms.

By addressing the toxic political climate in the United States and echoing the sentiments of unity and tolerance, Calumet’s artistry underscores the importance of recognizing our shared humanity.
