Dr. Muso releases 2nd album–could these be the best new rock albums you haven’t heard yet?

Arcata, CA — This month Musonics has released Dr. Muso’s second album It’s Snot What You Think and the first single from that album, “Psychedelic Machine.”  The album and single are available on all the major streaming services, and there is a video accompanying “Psychedelic Machine” on Dr. Muso’s YouTube channel.

Hailing from northern California, Dr. Muso has released two albums of eclectic, electric music drawing from classic-rock, jazz and ambient influences.  Listeners who appreciate the instrumental virtuosity, compositional variety, and studio production techniques of rock and jazz from the golden decade prior to disco will like this music if they ever get a chance to hear it.  The first album, Music for Picking Your Nose, was released in 2020 on CD and many streaming platforms. The new album, It’s Snot What You Think, has only been distributed to streaming and download platforms, including Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon and many others.

While the single “Psychedelic Machine” is a tongue-in-cheek song reflecting on the gearhead musician’s obsession with new gear (and an homage to Jimi Hendrix, who popularized some of the early guitar pedals), the other tracks on It’s Snot What You Think are guitar-focused instrumentals, ranging from a new arrangement of the jazz tune “Poinciana” to original jazz-rock, funk-rock, and ambient pieces.  This music reflects the influences of greats such as Jeff Beck, the Allman Brothers Band, and Miles Davis, although only “Epiphoney” is an obvious recreation of the style of a certain live, classic-rock album.

For your Halloween playlist, consider the sinister-sounding “After Armageddon, We Meditate” from It’s Snot What You Think, or for something more lighthearted but still macabre, “Zombie Elemonator” from Music for Picking Your Nose–and create your own movie in your imagination.

Following the 2020 release of the debut album Music for Picking Your Nose, Dr. Muso has released It’s Snot What You Think and the single “Psychedelic Machine.”  This eclectic rock music is available on Amazon, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube and other streaming/download platforms.
