Rashad Evans Dominates Rampage Jackson. Gains victory by Decision

The most heavily anticipated matchup in UFC history finally got underway under the bright lights of Las Vegas Nevada as Sugar Rashad Evans and Quentin Rampage Jackson stood toe-to-toe in the middle of the octagon. The atmosphere was electric as celebrities packed the casino and over 1 million pay per view buys were anticipated in a fight that drew in the casual fight fan looking to see an epic KO to close the fight.

Lost in this epic grudge match was the fact that this was the first UFC main event that featured two African American MMA superstars.

Rashad caught Rampage early in Round 1 with a shot that rocked him. After that he continued the pace and used a series of takedown and stick and move strategies that confused and frustrated Jackson. Rampage caught Rashad in Round 3 but shockingly failed to push the pace.

Rampage credits the loss to ring rust, but during training camp he had to lost close to 40 pounds which is a big drain on bodily resources.

The victory leaves Evans as the #1 contender for the crown held by Shogun Rua. Rampage vs. Rua would've been a better storyline but he didn't seal the deal.
