Most older hip-hop fans defer to the "Golden Era" when this topic is mentioned but if you break it down fully there are other eras that could be mentioned.
While the Golden Era produced absolutely legendary moments in hip hop history, you cant deny the early 90s as well due to the fact that the West Coast was actually leading the pack.
In a recent interview, Puff actually credits Dr. Dre as the influence for Ready to Die as well as Tribe giving props to Dre as well.
The whole "East Coast" resurgence which was dominated by the "Shiny Suit era" generated a LOT of hate, but in retrospect Puffy's "No Way Out" is a classic album and features what I believe to be one of Biggie's best verses on Victory. This time period also gave birth to the single greatest hip-hop movement, Master P. and No Limit Records. What P did without video or radio play can and will never be duplicated in hip hop history
