Baltimore Hip Hop's Online Destination for Self-Made Entrepreneurs

The hip-hop generation has long felt shut out of the voting process. Since hip-hop has always been the voice and choice of expresssion for the youth, many people within hip-hop culture have chosen to stick within the boundaries of hip-hop and leave politics out of the day-to-day interactions.
Hip-Hop Politics of the Past
Hip-hop has long defined being 'political' as an artist as being a 'radical' or revolutionary thinker in the vein of The Black Panther Party for Self Defense and many other examples.
The gap from Public Enemy-to-now has been a long void of displeasure towards the United States Government by the hip-hop community. Laws have been passed and Republicans and Democrats and yet, the conditions in many inner cities remain the same or have gotten worse.

In times past, a rapper would be considered a 'sellout' by being involved in politics and actively supporting candidates. As we move into a new era, there is a new thinking that is prevalent in hip-hop culture.

Hip-Hop Gets Political
Hip-hop icons have started to become more politically aware, which has trickled down into the youth of America. Hip-hop legend Sean "Puffy" Combs' "Vote or Die" campaign in 2004 energized youth voters to storm the polls in record numbers. In 2008, literally every hip-hop artist has been vocal in his support of voting and being involved in the Democratic process. From Royce da 5'9" touring in a Barack Obama shirt, to Daddy Yankee vocally supporting Senator John McCain, everyone is involved.

Where Will America Go From Here?

Look for America to be energized by the presence of the youth in today's politics. True change comes from activity and the young people of the USA will begin to make demands and those demands will be heard because Young people are now a respected Voter base based on 2004 and 2008 election turnouts.

Who Should You Vote For?

Indie Planet TV telling you who to vote for or swaying our reader's vote is no better than the antics of FOX News twisting the truth around. We encourage you to look into the background of each candidate and make the right decision. Barack Obama's The Audacity of Hope
