Gilles Casanova - "Wild Style Freestyle"
Gilles Casanova is a Bushwick Brookln, NY native who was blessed to witness the culture of b-boying, emceeing, dj'ing and graffiti (what is known as Hip-Hop culture) in his adolescent stages in local parks. Gilles was immediately consumed by the aura.
Music making for Gilles began in the early childhood years, as he is the son and nephew of guitarists/musicans. When Gilles was attending Catherine & Count Basie (JHS 72) he and a friend would write songs in the morning and perform at lunch recess. Beating on the lunch tables and delivering electrifying lyrics, ultimately being disruptive to the everyday norm. As days went the crowd grew, and so did his confidence for performing in front of crowds.
Musical influences include Naughty By Nature, Lost Boyz, G-Unit, Dipset, The Lox, ASAP Mob Boot Camp Click, Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Crime Mob, Lol Jon & the Eastside Boyz, Mobb Deep, Busta Rhymes, Tribe Called Quest, DMX, Tupac, The Roots to name a few.
