As you know, music opens eyes, doors, minds and hearts. Music allows for expression, healing and self discovery. As you will soon discover, Punk-Hop-N-B Difrint, LLC is an organization focused and dedicated to the uplifting of charm city’s flourishing music community.

On Friday, May 16th, 2008, at the Sonar night club, Punk-Hop-N-B Difrint, LLC will be hosting 295 Heat: The Battle on the Beltway, a music showcase that will unite the unsigned stars of Rap, Song, and Spoken Word, with the viable music community of Baltimore and Washington DC. This event will allow aspiring and unsigned artist in the Baltimore/Washington area the opportunity to be heard by a huge audience, and network with local industry heavy weights.

You are guaranteed exposure amongst your peers, as well an opportunity to win prizes that could help further your career in your respective genre.

What is unique about the 295 Heat show?

The 295 Heat: Battle on the Beltway Music Showcase is unique because contenders will be able to win in edition to the 1st place prize, various unique prizes based on different categories.

*The Grammy Gold Award: Awarded to the Best Original Song Performed
*The Lyricist of the Night Award: Awarded to the most compelling lyrics performed
*The People’s Choice Award: Awarded to the crowd favorite
*The Hot Ghetto Mess Award: Awarded to the messiest performance
*The XXX Freak Award: Awarded to the raunchiest performance

As the winner of the event:

You will receive the ultimate prize package that covers the essentials to creating a buzz in the local and national industry including tracks, studio time, and cash.

How will this event be judged?

The 295 Heat: Battle on the Beltway will be judged by some of Baltimore’s top music industry personalities in terms of talent; a natural, special and often creative or artistic aptitude, creativity; having the quality of something unique not imitated, and charisma; a special, magnetic charm or appeal. Audience participation is also a factor, so be sure to bring your friends and family. Each contestant will have 4 to 5 minutes to perform (Note anything over 5 minutes is subject to penalties against the performer). Each contestant will be ranked on a scale of 1 to 10 in each of the three categories, with audience participation counting as additional bonus points. The artist with the most points wins. The top 3 contestants will also receive a trophy/certificate, and in the event of a tie, the audience will choose. Once again, bring a friend.

Is there an entry fee?

There is a non refundable entry fee of $25.00 that must be paid in full before your spot in the showcase is secured. The entry fee covers the admission of up to 4 performers. These performers must be on stage or they will be asked to leave the show. Any group including more than 4 performers must pay $10.00 for each additional person. In order to promote variety, there will be a limit placed on the amount of rappers, singers, poets, etc. allowed to compete. First come, first serve of course.

*General admission to this event for spectators will be $10.00, to be paid upon entry of the club.

What should I remember to not lose my place in the competition or forfeit my prize?

All CDs MUST be labeled with artist name and track number to be played. Please know what songs you will be performing prior to submitting CD.

Performers MUST be at the Sonar by 8:30. Professionalism is a key to longevity in the music business.

As the winner you have a time period not to exceed two weeks to make arrangements with producers for tracks and studio time before your prize becomes null and void.

Any performers that misuse the microphones will be automatically disqualified from the competition and is responsible for any damages done. Equipment contracts will be provided.
