New LineUp Announced for Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
Blu and Exile, Platinum Pied Pipers, Mickey Factz, 88 Keys, DJ Eclipse added to Lineup
The announcements and developments continue to roll in for the 2008 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. The lineup for the Main Day, July 12th, is about wrapped up as Brooklyn Bodega announced a new batch of MC's who will rock the main stage.
Just added to the main stage on July 12th are Blue and Exile, Mickey Factz, and 88 Keys. DJ Eclipse will be on the wheels of steel on July 10th at the Masonic Lodge. The Platinum Pied Pipers and friends will headlining the official BHF after party at Southpaw in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
L.A. super duo Blu and Exile's performance at the Festival will be their first in New York since the release of the critically acclaimed album 'Below The Heavens.' The album's buzz caught the attention of Festival organizers and the offer was extended to bring a little L.A. to Brooklyn this year.
The addition of Mickey Factz continues the Festival's tradition of helping break the next big thing. In 2005 a pre 'Minstrel Show' Little Brother played the Festival, in 2006 a Chicago MC named Lupe Fiasco played the Festival on the strength of 'Kick, Push." In 2007 it was Kidz In The Hall. In 2008 it will be Mickey Factz.
Veteran producer and MC 88 Keys will play Brooklyn for the first time on July 12th. 88 has worked with Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Redman, J Davey and Bilal. His forthcoming album "The Death Of Adam" is executive produced by Kanye West.
Brooklyn Bodega also announced details on the official after party on July 12th at Southpaw. The night themed, "Detroit Comes To Brooklyn" will feature Brooklyn (via Detroit) residents The Platinum Pied Pipers and friends. More details on the after party will be released this week.
Finally, super DJ Eclipse will be spinning on July 10th at the Masonic Lodge with Bilal, Ladybug Mecca, Smif N Wessun and others. From Fat Beats to WNYU to Non Phixion Eclipse is a driving force in Hip- Hop. A longtime supporter of the Festival, Eclipse is part of the SCR network and an invaluable resource to the Festival's mission.
