LiveNation's Facebook App Lets Music Fans Track Tours, Buy Tickets
LiveNation has made friends with Facebook. On Thursday, the company announced a new Facebook app that scans your music collection and cross-references your favorite artists with its touring calendar to generate a customized list of upcoming shows that you can post for your friends to see.
This being LiveNation, of course, you also get a chance to buy tickets to the show. LiveNation is a live music promoter and venue owner with its own ticketing business; the company's contract with Ticketmaster runs out next year. (By comparison, Ticketmaster's idea of how to use Facebook was giving away iTunes tracks in order to convince users to create multiple accounts and inflate its friend count to 5,000.)
