What are you currently working on?: StressWon was born Gage Brandon Caldwell in 1975 in Rahway, N.J. Due to his parents marriage ultimately failing at a young age, Stress was raised by his Mom and soon his Step father and was raised in Colonial Gardens Buildings in the small town Avenel. Colonial Gardens in the early 80's was a melting pot of different folks which in turn would shape who Stress is and where his roots for music come from. "Most of my neighbors we're either Latino or Jamaican, so you always heard the different music when walkin' by someone's door or window....it helped me appreciate the diversity at a young age."

Stress' first encounter with Hip Hop would be his first cassette he would own. The self titled album, "Run DMC". "Wow, I remember askin' my Mom to get that for me. She was headin' out to the store and I asked her to buy me a album, and she agreed. She asked what I wanted and I replied, Run DMC! Her face was priceless, but I think she knew I really liked them..."

By 13 Stress was heavy into both Hip Hop Music and Heavy Metal/Alternative Rock. "I was really diggin' P.E. and at the same time I was rockin' out to Guns and Roses,,,I was a confused child..." Also in his spare time, he would write poetry. Stress' relationship with his step-father was a tremulous one, but he says if it weren't for that, there would be no StressWon in the first place. "We would fight, most of the time I was bein' the average dick head teenager, but at that he liked to drink and was under a lot of ,,well, stress. But he would send me to my room, I'de throw on music and write poetry to get my feelins' out. The poetry was pretty awful too." The poetry the turned into rap at some point. "I'll never forget it, I was pissed, really angry, and I was writin' some seriously nasty lines and I don't know, I was rhymin' to the music, and well, that's pretty much how it started,"
