Indie Planet Hip-Hop Hall of Fame Discussion: Das EFX - Yes or No?

Das EFX is a duo consisting of Skoob and Krazy Drayzy who both hail from the Tri-Stae. They met at Virginia State in 1988 and started to do shows together.
"Das" standing for "Drayz and Skoob" and "EFX" is short for "effects".
They impressed EPMD at a talent show and eventually signed a record deal. What followed was their landmark debut album, Dead Serious, and the birth of their HIGHLY influential rap-style which they termed "Sewage".

Dead Serious went certified platinum and its lead single, "They Want EFX was a top ten chart topper (Billboard) and #1 on its Hot Rap Tracks chart.
Follow-up "Mic Checka" and "Straight Out the Sewer" reached #1 and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart.

The duo also did the hook on Ice Cube's classic single "Check Yo Self" which appeared in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Their sound punctuated the era with their flow being adopted by Kris Kross, Fu-Schnickens, Jay-Z, Lords of the Underground, Common Sense, and even Blackstreet's song "No Diggity".

Their pioneering lyrical style actually became a liability as the rest of the game often duplicated the flow.
Future follow-ups Straight Up Sewaside and Hold it Down saw the duo depart from the sound they landmarked .

The breakup of EPMD lead to a three year hiatus from releasing albums but they followed up in 98 with Generation EFX.

Despite the lack of mainstream following, Das EFX still tours regularly throughout the world highlighted by a European tour in 2007 The duo is currently working on new material for release shortly.
