Indie Planet Hip-Hop Hall of Fame Discussion: Cam'ron - Yes or No?

Camron is a product of Harlem, New York. He originally started out playing ball but always had the gift of rhyming. He started out rapping in a group Children of the Corn w/ Big L, Mase, and Bloodshed in the mid 90's. After the death of Bloodshed, he continued to pursue his rap dream after his hoop dreams fell through, and hooked up w/ Notorious B.I.G. through Ma$e.

Biggie, at the time was recovering from a car accident, and Camron came through and spit a freestyle which impressed Big enough to pull a few strings to get him signed. After Big's death, Cam was signed to Untertainment as a promise he made to Biggie.

Cam'ron released his first solo album, Confessions of Fire, in 1998. The album featured songs like "357" and "Horse And Carriage,". Cam at the time displayed an offbeat flow, which was unique for New York artists at the time. He also took well-known sitcom theme songs and would rhyme over them in his early career. He released his follow up Sports, Drugs, and Entertainment.
Un's label closed up shop in 99 and Cam's contract was brought into the mix at Epic.
He was then released in 2001.

Cam then began to do business with longtime friend and manager Dame Dash shortly thereafter.
In 2002, he dropped Come Home With Me, which featured the smash hit "Oh Boy" and follow up "Hey Ma,"

During this time he appeared in Paid in Full, in which he portrayed Alpo's character.
Cam formed The Diplomats and released the now classic Diplomatic Immunity, in 2003, which was certified platinum by the RIAA.
Diplomatic Immunity 2 dropped a year later and went gold. During this time, Dipset was at an all-time high and enjoyed cult-like following throughout the East Coast and had cross-over success in other regions such as the South.
Cam's Purple Haze album went gold but due to the issues at the label between the bosses at Roc-A-Fella, came requested his release.
Cam'ron signed to Asylum Records and dropped Killa Season the movie and album.
This album was his lowest selling to date.

Considerations
Cam'ron is easily one of the top 10 biggest trendsetters in hip-hop history when you take into account his fashion and slang that he infused into the rap game. The Diplomats "Diplomatic Immunity" can be considered a classic album, along with Confessions of Fire up for discussion as a classic.

Similar to Eazy-E, Master P and others, Cam'ron was one of the few to start a legitamite MOVEMENT as the leader of the Diplomats. Dipset's popularity and cult following rivaled only Wu-Tang Clan in terms of New York City crews.

Camron Hall of Fame Vote - What the People are Saying
@indieplanet thats dipset as a whole...cam by his self....not a legend!..dipset as a crew i respected..cam by his self...his cool

indieplanet and if not for Cam there would be no Jim Jones and the rest of them cats... Loved Killa Season but what was the impact?? I guess the catch phrases Dipset and No Homo???

I am not fronting... Dipset ran New York for a good five years- not an easy feat they def had the influence. Only thing is Wu Tang innovated NY + most members are on top still

@indieplanet LMAO DEFINATELY NOT! lets see the lack of skills, the over use of pink and purple, the duck and run... take your pick.
