At the age of 28, Nate Jackson aka YKN8, hasn’t had the easiest journey. Rapping since the age of 17 music wasn’t always the way out, in his youth his dreams were to always go to the NBA but after being cut from his high school basketball team his sophomore year YKN8 needed another way to express his pain, struggle and every day life that basketball no longer provide. Getting into rap YKN8 quickly found his escape from life in Fort Wayne Indiana, being signed at the age of 19 YKN8 would quickly learn what the business was all about just eight months into his record deal he was released from his label without nothing to show for. Learning from his mistakes he made while chasing his hoop dreams YKN8 vowed not to give up so easily so he decided on taking the independent route and starting his own independent label, BLKout Music Group. Perfecting his craft and the business side, YKN8 knew the importance of not rushing to put his music out. Dealing with personal issues and the thought of giving up on music his daughter,Nevaeh, gave him a new sense of motivation, inspiration and purpose. Now he has to face a new challenge in life, that’s trying to chase his rap career while being a single dad. With his back against the wall the pressure is where YKN8 thrives the best while keeping one foot in front of the other, his faith strong and his daughter close there’s nothing in the world that he can’t handle.
