A rising artist who has sparked such a charge and has caused an uproar all around him CTs native, “MISTER” J Gomes, has pushed the envelope with his sound bridging a variety of elements from different genres establishing a new dynamic yet seasoned type of style.
Being influenced from early childhood by all genres including gospel from his mom who is a minister and getting to witness music be mixed and beats created by his father, one of CT’s great DJ legends , Dj Kool Keith.
Gomes realism and delivery is so raw and uncut, he’s a real genuine representation of HipHop. His creative and diverse execution of each record, keeps him highly respected amongst his peers and in high demand amongst his fans. By keeping their heads turning, eyebrow raised and a constant bop going, it has them keeping his music in heavy rotation on their playlist.
Gomes has built such an enormous catalog, he has been getting recognition from all over. From featuring in over 15 magazines and blogs such as; The New York Weekly, The American Reporter, This is 50, and Hood Illustrated; just to name a few. To putting on iconic performances at venues like Toads Place and Sin City in Connecticut to Madison Square Garden and Quads Studio in New York. Even being interviewed by one of New Jersey’s hottest DJ’s, Dj Drewski.

What first got you into music?
My father Rest in peace, he was a DJ so he is who introduced me to music and always pushed me to record and write
Who inspired you to make music?
Jay z, Busta, mase, Camron, biggie, the lox, method man, redman, andre 3000 those were like the main artist
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
SLICK!! real slick i stay away from one sound i don’t want to be a artist boxed in so i experiment with with sounds but i always give the same me slick and witty
What is your creative process like?
If i’m not writing in the studio i like to zone to the beat while i’m in the car driving. Driving around looking at what’s going on outside of me, i’m a visual writer so i like to see details

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Would of loved to open up for that Hard Knock Life Tour in 99!!! that was probably the best show i’ve seen personally and everyone that took part of it are part of the reason i became the artist i am, shiiiit i would of opened up for that for free just to be able to soak up what i could’ve from them fellas you got think about that line up and what they had out at that time
What is one message you would give to your fans?
I appreciate them and i mean that 100% the love i’ve been shown over the last year has been incredible
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
not to let certain energies around me! This is something I think we all know, but when it comes to certain people we may feel guilty about not having them around so we allow them in our space. But when a third party see’s something they don’t think is good for you and tells you it’s almost reassuring so you don’t have to feel guilty
