The Showdown Talent Showcase Hits Atlanta
Taylord Entertainment’s electrifying Hip Hop/R&B interpretation “The Showdown” returns to Sugar Hill at the Atlanta Underground for a sophomore presentation, Thursday, March 20th at 9:00 pm. Last year’s “Showdown” presented a packed house with some of the southeast’s most untapped raw talent performing for label executives and industry tastemakers. The 2008 Showdown promises to be an even greater draw with talent traveling from over 17 states includingTexas, Oklahoma, NY, the Carolinas and Alabama and many more, for an evening of great musical potential. The 2008 Showdown will be hosted by infamous ATL personality Chiq Diva.
Taylord Entertainment’s attention to detail and showmanship are two of the factors that set The Showdown apart from the innumerable talent showcases throughout the Atlanta area. “We really go out of our way to present an experience. We believe in excellence when it comes to putting on a performance,” says founder and CEO Frank Taylor. Taylor is known throughout the southeast for his Grammy-award winning production, “Showcase of the South” which is in its 15th year. The production received a proclamation from Sen. Vincent Forte’s office in 2007. “We wanted to bring the same panache and excitement of Showcase of the South to a hip hop audience,” Taylor says of his newly created Showdown, “We had a wonderful response to last year’s show and this year’s show sold-out three weeks before the show date so we can promise an even bigger event,” Taylor says proudly. 2008 Showdown will feature special guest performances by Willie Joe (Shonuff/Capitol), Young Trimm (Battery 5/Redzone), and DBrown (Compound Entertainment). Representatives from So So Def, Shonuff, Def Jam, Jive, Universal, SESAC and many others will be in attendance.
The Showdown will welcome a host of celebrity judges and VIP guests with a red carpet gala. A glamourous red carpet event will be hosted by Enchanted PR and the Femi Dolls courtesy of TL Dowells, beginning at 7:30 with the show starting promptly at 9PM. The winning act will receive a cash prize. The red carpet will begin at 7:30 and end at 8:45. The Showdown is scheduled for Thursday, March 20th at SugarHill located in the Underground Atlanta.
